A woman’s place is not in the home
Wednesday April 1, 2009

Debaters John Carswell, Ray Smith and Murray Robotham (absent from the above photo) went head to head last Thursday night at the Golfie with Sharon Harland, Tanya Huon and Tracey Kings with the men convincing their audience of almost 100 that a woman’s place is not in the home. The debate was a fundraiser for the Cobar Enterprise Facilitation group who are working to help small businesses in the town. Carswell attacked the female opposition from the outset, Robotham suggested women take advantage of working in a man’s world, while Smith implied that women were redundant in the home, listing his achievement as the 1981 Westfield Ironing Man Champion as evidence of this. And while the night’s hilarious adjudicator Peter Cochrane was blatantly on the women’s side, the audience voted in the men’s favour.
