The Cobar Junior Cricket Association has called it stumps on the 2008/2009 season with final matches played in the Kanga and Under 14s divisions on Saturday.

Golf Club were the Kanga cricket premiers after defeating Nymagee 230—184 in Saturday’s grand final.

Man of the Match, Golf Club’s Blye Dawson, scored 53 of their 230 runs and also took 3/15 off two overs.

Golf Club’s other run scorers were Fred McClure 38, Samantha Hyde 25, and Alex Kennedy 25.

Nymagee’s grand final Man of the Match award went to Mathew Dillon who scored 37 runs and took 4/9 off three overs.

Nicholas Buckman 37, Jemma Dillon 26, Bryan Mitchell 22 and Thomas Jones 22 were Nymagee’s other top run scorers.

In the play off for third place in the Kanga competition, Kerrigundi defeated Colts by just six runs.

Kerrigundi scored 161 off their 20 overs with Jay Ellison 25, Claude Beitz 22 and Callum Rainbow 22 the highest run scorers.

Colts in reply could only manage 155 off their 20 overs with Wyatt Proudlove (18) and Kiriana Sheenan (18) the best with the bat.

Kerrigundi were well served by their bowlers with Jay Ellison collecting three wickets for 15 runs off two overs.

Colts’ best was Taylah Good with 3/29 off three overs.

The last Under 14s game of the season played on Saturday was a very low scoring affair.

Jack’s Jelly Beans (Kershaw’s team) batted first and were all out in the 13th over scoring just 57 runs, with best batters Mark Fraser (10) and Sam Best (9).

Jack’s Jokers (Hourne’s team) were looking good and were only two wickets down in the eighth over for 45 runs.

Unfortunately for the Jokers, wickets began to fall quickly and they were all out in the 12th over, six runs short of their target.

Luke Hillier (19) and Ethan Black (13) were the Jokers top scorers.

After the games the end of season presentations were held at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club.

In the Kanga competition, James Goonrey with 426, had the most runs overall, scoring an average of 35.5 per innings.
