Blues A Grade netballers return to the winner’s circle
Wednesday July 1, 2009

Cobar Blues A Grader Demi Smith, with her long arm stretch in defence, proved to be a “real pain” for the Hillston Wing Attack in Saturday’s Northern Riverina League
netball competition game at Ward Oval.
The Cobar A Grade Blues netball team returned to the winner’s circle with a big
58-29 win over visitors Hillston at Ward Oval on Saturday.
With Goal Attack Jaimee Cohen out due to injury and replacement shooter Zoë Harland still not 100 per cent fit, coach Gerard Francisco was forced to adopt a new shooting combination.
He moved Harland back to Goal Shooter and brought Lane Poland out to play the Goal
Attack position.
The new plan worked better than expected with Poland linking well with her centre court team mates to dominate play in two thirds of the court and increase Cobar’s possession of the ball all through the game.
Coach Francisco was indeed impressed with Poland’s performance and she picked up the weekly Coach’s Award.
The team’s captain and Centre Tanya Huon was named Players’ Player.
The Cobar A Grade side is currently in third position on the competition ladder on 27 points.
They trail Ungarie and Lake Cargelligo, who both have 30 points.
