Bowlers celebrate day on the greens

Women's presidents day bowls
Women bowlers Debbie Vayne (Nyngan), locals June Smith and Marge Dowling and Betty Carney (Nyngan) were among the field of competitors at the Women’s President’s Day Bowls at the Services Club on Sunday.

Marlene Wynd’s President’s Day women’s bowls event was held at the Services Club on Sunday.

Teams from Nyngan and Bourke travelled to help celebrate the day on the greens.

The overall winner was the Nyngan Team One while the Cobar Team Three took out the runners-up trophy.

Nyngan Team Four was the morning winner and the afternoon prize was won by Nyngan Team Two.

Narda Armstrong won the spider novelty event and Maureen Griffiths collected the Ditcher prize.

The second round of the Services Club women’s bowls Club Singles was played last week.

The members to play off in the semi finals yesterday were Marlene Wynd, Marion Williams, Jane Budd and Elaine Walsh. (Results from this event will be published next week.)

Elaine Walsh has been nominated to hold the position of Life Member in recognition of her years of work for the club.—Ditcher

The Golden Oldies bowls played last Wednesday at the Services Club had a good field of 12 players on the green.

The winners were Kyle Roberts and Norm Bargwanna with a 7-shot margin.

They won on a count back from Paddy Phillips and John Grogan.

Ken Harper was most consistent payer of the month with a total of 37 points.

Saturday’s Jackpot bowls had a great field of 16 players.

The winners were Paddy Phillips and Jean Roberts, while the runners-up were Marlene Wynd and Anne Williams.
