Heat takes it’s toll on women golfers

Wednesday December 2, 2009

The heat took its toll on players for last Wednesday’s round of women’s golf with only three ladies finishing the 18 hole par event.

Janine Ryan was the winner with a -1 score followed by Pam Sikora with -2.

Nearest the pins prizes went to Ryan on the 7th hole and Robynne Morton on the 15th.

The weekend round had a drop in temperature and a rise in numbers taking to the course.

Narelle Green was the Saturday stableford winner breaking her handicap.

She finished with 42 points.

A count back was needed to decide the next three place getters with Gloria Hay, Ann Dunn and Fay Hardwick all posting scores of 35 points.

Vivian Beehan was next (33) with Pam Sikora getting the nod on a count back from Barb Barklimore, both had 32 points.

Nearest the pins prizes were won by Heather Forster (3rd hole) and Janine Ryan on the (11th).

Sunday’s stableford variation was a fun day with 12 teams participating and another count back was needed to determine the winners.

Sue-Ellen Dunne and Heather Forster got the prize over Janine Ryan and Jannine Wilkin, finishing with both teams having 70 points.

Elaine Burton and Anne Dunn were next with 68 followed by Youlanda Taylor and Barb Barklimore with 63.

Forster and Dunne claimed the nearest the pins prizes on the 8th and 15th holes for the last game for 2009.

The lady golfers are now conducting a Skins game every Tuesday afternoon with a 5.30pm tee off time for the nine holes.

Starting today is the mixed summer comp with 7.30am and 5pm tee off times.

Competitions are also held on Saturdays and Sundays for those who don’t require any
sleep- ins on the weekends.—T’d Off
