Contractor issues stall main street upgrade project
Wednesday January 27, 2010
Cobar’s main street beautification has stalled with Cobar Shire Council seeking response from the contractor on their part in the project.
Council’s general manager Ray Smith yesterday sent notification to the contractor that he should “show cause” as to why council should not invoke a clause terminating the contract.
According to the letter sent by Mr Smith, “the project is now well behind schedule”.
The contractor has been given until next Wednesday to respond to the concerns.
Work on the main street stopped over the Christmas break and was due to resume in early 2010.
A full report on the matter is expected at next week’s council committee meetings.
