Drink driving and fake licence lands youth in court
Wednesday February 3, 2010
A 17 year old Cobar youth has been found driving more than three times over the legal blood alcohol limit, and holding a fake licence.
Highway Patrol police observed a vehicle driving in Becker Street at around 7am last Tuesday before it stopped and two males exited the vehicle.
Senior Constable Adam Gibson said police approached the males and ascertained that the 17 year old had been driving.
He was subjected to a random breath test which returned a positive result, and was conveyed to Cobar Police Station.
The man was subjected to a breath analysis which showed he had been driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.160.
The man was found to be a P1 licence holder, although he admitted that the
first licence he produced was not his correct one.
He later produced a second licence with a different birth date to the first one.
Senior Constable Gibson said the man
was charged with driving with a high range prescribed concentration of alcohol
and fraudulently using a licence, and is
expected to appear in Cobar Local Court next month.
His licence was confiscated.
