Cobar Little A’s members were keen to return to competition at Ward Oval on Monday afternoon following a long Christmas and school holiday break.
Before the first afternoon of competition for 2010 commenced, club president Mark Gilbert presented two of the club’s senior athletes, Shane Place and Taylor Gilbert, with new club record certificates.
Shane now holds the Cobar club record in the U/17s Discus and 800 metres track events while Taylor is the new record holder in the U/14s Discus and Triple Jump events.
The U/14’s Triple Jump record was previously held by Jaimee Cohen which she set in the 2005/06 season.
This season Taylor bettered Jaimee’s distance by a metre and the new record of 9.62 metres is now the mark to beat.
Taylor, along with fellow club members Ethan Gilbert, Jacob Good, Taylor Good and Will Griffiths, will go onto to represent the Cobar club at the Little A’s Regional Carnival in Finley later this month.
