Little A’s members compete at Regional carnival in Finley

Four members of the Cobar Little A’s Club competed at the Regional Little Athletics Carnival in Finley on February 20 and 21.
Taylor Gilbert, Ethan Gilbert, Jacob Good and Taylah Good and their families made the long trek to the small Riverina town to compete at the Regional carnival having previously qualified in their respective events at Zone level.
There was a large turn out of athletes for the annual event with most events having 16-18 competitors.
All the Cobar competitors performed well in their respective events with Taylor Gilbert turning in a great performance in her long jump event to finish third with a jump of 4.67 metres.
Taylor has now qualified to compete at State level in Sydney later this month.
She was also just 1cm short of qualifying for State in her triple jump event where she finished fourth with a jump of 9.69m.
Taylor finished 6th in her 100m sprint heat with a time of 13.71. She went onto the final where she placed 9th.
She finished 7th in her heat of the 200m sprint and was in 11th place in her high jump event where her best jump was 1.30m.
Taylah Good finished 5th in her 60m hurdles heat and was named first reserve for the final; she ran 4th in her 400m track heat and progressed to the final where she finished in 9th place.
She also finished 9th in her high jump event.
Jacob Good finished 5th in his 400m track heat with a time of 1.18.5 and finished the final with a better time of 1.18.17 in 9th place.
He threw a personal best distance of 6.97m in his shot put event which was 20cm better than any of his previous attempts.
Ethan Gilbert finished in 8th place in his 100m sprint, 7th in his 400m heat and jumped 2.54m in his long jump event.
