Outstanding accreditation result for LBV

Wednesday June 3, 2009

The Lilliane Brady Village (LBV) has passed a recent accreditation audit with flying colours.

LBV director of nursing Sharon Huon said the hostel and nursing home both complied with all 44 outcomes under the four standards set out by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, the village’s best outcome since accreditation started in 2000.

The accreditation process involved the agency carrying out interviews with 25 residents and family members of residents over a three day period.

The village has been recommended for three years accreditation with no required improvements.

“All residents, family and friends interviewed expressed satisfaction.

“They felt they were very well treated and that they felt ‘at home’,” Mrs Huon reported.

“Friends, family and visitors stated how lucky Cobar was to have such a place.”

The agency described the village’s resident handbook as “among the best they’ve ever seen”.

The agency commended Mrs Huon in her position as director of nursing on “well developed” systems and policies that reflect current legislation with procedures “well implemented to underpin those systems by all staff”.

“It also commended the facility management and staff on their proactive approach
to quality care, and acknowledged how well all staff care for the residents,” Mrs Huon said.

She said the process allows the community to recognise the high standards in the facility.

“We also acknowledge the exceptional support of the community.

“As the director I acknowledge the hard work of all staff and that this is the result of a team effort that would not be possible without the commitment that staff have given over many years.

“I am blessed to have such great support from residents, family and the wider community.

“I hope that all of us can continue to work together to provide high quality care that maximises the lifestyle of those who call the ‘village’ home,” Mrs Huon said.
