Annie ‘the Gun’ Dunn ends season with a big bang
Wednesday December 3, 2008
The ladies golfing season drew to a close last week with the weather holding out for all games to be completed for a change.
Annie ‘the gun’ Dunn scored a brilliant 43 points in Wednesday’s stableford event to seal the win ahead of Sally Bannister who came in second position on a count back from Gloria Hay.
Both scored 36 points.
The ‘Putting Princess’ Hay picked up
both nearest the pins, on the 8th and 11th holes.
With plenty of time on her hands now, Jannine Wilkin had a hard fought win in Saturdays par game with a score of -2 on a count back from Ann Dunn with Pat Polack in third position on -3.
Barb Barklimore and Ann Dunn couldn’t be separated on the third hole for nearest the pin and Gloria Hay picked up the 15th prize.
Pat Polack wrapped up the last event for the year winning Sunday’s stableford with 35 points on a count back from Barb Barklimore. Fay Hardwick (34 points) took third place as well as picking up nearest the pins prizes on the 3rd and 15th holes.
Vi McLaughlin nabbed nearest the pin on the 11th hole, Sally Bannister the 7th and Gloria Hay the 8th.
The pressure for the final win of the season was a bit much for one group of ladies, who decided on more than one occasion to hit the wrong ball!
This week the summer competition gets underway with the women joining forces with the men.
All details will be in the men’s golf report or you can read them on the golfers’ notice board at the club.
The end of season means Santa is on his way soon and the golf ladies will celebrate with a Christmas party on Saturday night—T’d Off
