Cobar man held over firearms theft

A 20 year old Cobar man was held in
custody pending a court appearance after being charged with firearms and theft
offences last week.
The man is alleged to have broken into a Monaghan Street residence and stolen 16 firearms last Wednesday.
A vehicle was also stolen and later found burnt out in bushland outside Cobar.
Police received information about the location of the stolen property last Wednesday, leading detectives to arrest the 20 year old.
He was charged with break and enter, receiving/disposing of stolen property; stealing a motor vehicle; and stealing firearms.
Most of the firearms, which included eight rifles and eight shotguns, have since been recovered.
The man appeared in Bourke Bail Court last Thursday and was refused bail.
