Among the 14 Cobar Show Society life members who were given awards on Saturday night were Ken Evans, Ruth White, Barry Artis, Nell Cohen, Ann Evans and Peter
Bradley, who each have more than 50 years service to the show society, following a
meeting at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club.
It was a special day for the Cobar Show Society on Saturday when 14 members were recognised for their long time efforts for the organisation.
Life membership was awarded to 14 locals, with six members (with more than 300 years of service between them) on hand to accept their awards at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club on Saturday.
Cobar Show Society president Marie Johnson made the presentations to Ruth White, Ann Evans, Nell Cohen, Peter Bradley, Barry Artis and Ken Evans following a special meeting to discuss changes to the society’s constitution.
“This is a way to acknowledge their many years of dedication to the show society,” Mrs Johnson said.
Most of the life members, including the six present on Saturday night, have been actively involved in the pavilions at Cobar Show.
“It is good to see the life members attending the meeting.
“They encourage some of the younger members to continue the work of the show society,” Mrs Johnson said on Saturday night.
The Show Society is now working hard in preparation for the 2009 Cobar Show, which is to be held on May 8 and 9.
