Wednesday March 4, 2009

Numbers were good for the finish of the summer golf competition over the weekend.

A par event was played on Saturday with 19 golfers doing battle.

Rob Josephson proved to be the superior player with a good score of +8.

He was followed by Jannine Wilkin (+4) and Garry Hay (+3).

Nearest the pins were recorded by Wilkin (2), Hay (2) and Bob Baker.

Wilkin capped off a good day being one of the winners of the chicken run competition along with Pam Sikora, Neville Fugar and Rob Josephson.

The final game of the summer competition was a stableford event contested on Sunday with 18 players taking part and 22 contesting the afternoon chicken run competition.

New golf members dominated the placings with young Jacob Ryan leading the way with 42 points followed home by Blake Dunne (41) and Ian Prendergast (41).

Bob Baker struck two nearest the pin shots along with one each to Piers Brown and Cliff Wyllie.

The chicken run winners were Blake Dunne, Wyllie, Geoff Dunne and Brown.

A field of 16 players faced the starter’s gun to contest a stableford event earlier in the week with Chrissy Grammar proving too good winning with a score of 44 points.

She was followed home by Jannine Wilkin (36) and Craig Dillon (36).

Janine Ryan recorded three nearest the pins and Grammar and Anne Dunn had one each.
