Cobar Dental Surgery has recently been fitted out with a range of new equipment purchased by Cobar Shire Council with a grant from the Australian Government
Department of Health and Ageing through its National Rural and Remote Health
Infrastructure Program. Among the new equipment is two chairs and associated
fittings, as well as a range of handtools, such as scalers and tips, and an air
compressor to work the chairs. The funding also allowed for a number of repairs to be carried out including fixing the leaking roof, ceiling and painting the ceiling and putting new powerpoints. In total council received $134,138.82 plus GST in funding for the project. Council’s special projects officer Angela Shepherd said the equipment belongs to council and will remain in the surgery. “The idea is to better equip our surgery to ensure it is an attractive walk-in, walk-out surgery so we are able to
attract dentists into the future to our town,” Ms Shepherd said. Lifetime Smiles
dentist Miriam Mathew is pictured with one of the new chairs.
