Nymagee makes short work of Golf Club in local cricket

Craig Tanke was the best of the Ox Colts bowlers, taking 5/26 from 10 overs in the match against Atlas Copco/Golfy 2 at Ward Oval on Saturday.
Nymagee made short work of Golf Club in the senior cricket match out at Nymagee on Sunday, quickly dismissing the visitors in just 20 overs.
In the other competition game played at Ward Oval, which by prior agreement was changed to a day/night fixture, Ox Colts fell 27 runs short of their target for Atlas Copco/Golfy 2 to claim the win.
In the match out at Nymagee, Golf Club won the toss and batted first.
After losing their first three wickets for 24, Golf Club batsmen John Hausia (43) and Craig Milne (11) put on a partnership of 54 to take the score on to 78.
However, the loss of four quick wickets had Golf Club’s score at 7/92 before Scott Toomey (35) and Matt Crotty (20 not out) took the score onto 141.
The last three wickets fell for 17 and Golf Club was all out for 158 from 38 overs.
The best bowling for Nymagee was Phil Harley with 5/35.
Other wicket takers were Mitch Shields 1/5, Matt Russell 1/14, Baden Smith 1/19, Wade Smith 1/19 and Doug North 1/23.
The Nymagee batsmen made short work of the run chase finishing at 2/160 off only 20 overs.
Jade Buckman top scored with 61 not out and was ably supported by Craig Dillon (33), Roger Mitchell (29) and Matt Nicholson (24 not out).
Wicket takers for Golf Club were Milne 1/38 and Hausia 1/43.
In the day/night match at Ward Oval Atlas Copco/Golfy 2 captain Jake Harbison won the toss and decided to bat first on a wicket that was slightly wet under the surface.
After losing their first three wickets for only 19 runs, the Atlas Copco/Golfy 2 middle order batsmen dug in against some good line and length bowling from the Ox Colts’ bowling attack.
They were eventually all out for 145 from 43 overs.
Rob Childs top scored with 31 and was
supported by Robbie Mitchell (24), Damien Harbison (24), Bryan Manns (21) and Rhys Power (12).

Other wicket takers were Dan Howard with 2/10 from seven overs, David Watson (1/25), Stewart Fraser (1/33) and Luke Hillier (1/1).
After the tea break the Ox Colts began their innings under lights.
Openers Fraser (17) and Howard (12) started confidently however were both dismissed in quick succession by Damien Harbison.
From this point wickets fell at regular intervals with only Greg Brown, who top scored with 34, looking comfortable against the good bowling attack.
A last wicket partnership of 20 from Jayde Townsend (12) and Luke Hillier (4 not out) took the Ox Colts score to 119 from 36.5 overs however they fell 27 runs short of their target.
The best bowling figures for Atlas Copco/Golfy 2 were Wade McLachlan 3/15, Raymond Ebsworth 2/11, Justin Richardson 2/13, Damien Harbison 2/27 and Childs 1/15.—contributed
