Women wrap up their golf season
Wednesday November 4, 2009
The much needed rain last week put a stop to the women’s golf competition set down for last Wednesday although the weather turned nice and hot for the weekend matches.
Saturday’s closing day for competitions was a stableford event with Sally Bannister taking the prize with 39 points ahead of Narelle Green (37).
They were followed by Fay Hardwick and Jackie Smith (36 each).
Nearest the pins were awarded to Jackie Smith and Angela Fryer on the 8th and 15th holes.
Sunday’s Three Person Ambrose event, sponsored by Rob’s C-food, had quite a few ladies taking part.
The combination of Fay Hardwick, Janine Ryan and Pam Sikora took out the women’s first place title with Chrissy Grammer,
Youlanda Taylor and Sue-Ellen Dunne the runners-up.
Third position went to Barb Barklimore, Brenda Fugar and Donna Prendergast.
Ann Dunn, Ruth Baker and Vivian Beehan were fourth.
Nearest the pins were won by Hardwick (3rd hole), Angela Fryer (7th and 8th), Fugar (11th) and Sue Phillips (15th).
Today is a par game while a stableford is set down for Saturday. Langford Day on Sunday is a Mixed Canadian event and ladies are asked to take a plate for afternoon tea.—T’d Off
