Big field for Inter Mine Challenge

Inter Mine golf challenge
John Coy, Joel Hancock and Nigel Tyack from Giles Engineering teed off with Heather Forster (Heather Forster Signs) and Craig Ariesen and Brad Coleman (from Blackwoods) early on Saturday morning in the Inter Mine Golf Challenge.

A field of 147 players took part in this year’s Inter Mine Golf Challenge held at the Cobar Golf Course on Saturday with Endeavor Mine winning the day with a score of 359½.

Peak was second with 378 and CSA was third with 389½.

The team of Phil Gilligan, Chrissy Grammer and Steve Manns, with a score of 58, were the best mine team on the day.

They won on a count back from Daryn Lord, David Gordon and Jamie Gapps (58).

Third place went to Darrel Warren, Kevin Walsh and John Martin (58½) and fourth was Tony Polack, Rob Josephson and Cole Jermyn (59½).

The team winners were: 1st—Jay Egan, Brad Dunne and Geoff Dunne; 2nd—Rod Young, Alan Sharpe and G Griffin; 3rd—Bailey Prendergast, Dylan Prince and Ethan Black; 4th—Brett Huxley, Wayne Betcke and Lincoln Brenton and 5th—Brenda Fugar, Jackie Smith and Donna Prendergast.

The longest drives were recorded by Richard Maple (Men) and Janine Wilkin (Women).
Garry Hay (Men) and Rachael Kennedy (Women) had the straightest drives.

The Ladies Nearest the Pins prizes sponsored by Joblink Plus went to Barb Barklimore (3rd hole), Janine Ryan (7th and 11th), Sally Bannister (8th) and Robynne Morton (15th).

The Men’s Nearest the Pins prizes sponsored by Roylance and RN Baker Switchboards were collected by Brett Huxley (3rd hole), Lincoln Brenton (7th), David Gordon (8th), John Martin (11th) and G Griffin (15th).

This year’s event attracted sponsors from as far away as Townsville, Gold Coast, Gosford and Sydney to name a few. The auction on the night raised over $2,600.

The four burner barbecue and Esky raffle was won by Brad Coleman who kindly donated it back to re-raffle.

The total of money raised from the event and the beneficiaries of the day are yet to be advised.
