Colourful and vibrant new pool will be worth the wait

The Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool’s brand new water toys at the front of the complex have now been installed, meaning visitors are greeted with a bright and colourful display in front of the new multipurpose pool.
A mass of bright colours will greet Cobar residents when they pass through the front gates of the newly renovated pool complex.
The installation of new fixed pool toys last week has added a vibrant feel to the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.
Pool contractor John Dangerfield explained to community members at a public viewing of the pool last Tuesday the aim was to “introduce more colour and vibrance” to the facility, as well a number of state of the art aspects which will make the new pool “worth the wait”.
He explained the new plant room at the end of the 50m pool (in front of the existing plant room) would be incorporated into the aesthetic design of the complex.
“This facility will be a landmark at night time.
“The feature wall at the end will be glowing with colour, and we hope to get a mural or pattern on the wall.
“There will also be uplighting in the concrete along the pool,” Mr Dangerfield said.
He said the reason the works have continued past the projected opening date is due to “quite a bit extra” projects being put into the plans.
“It was always ambitious,” he said.
Cobar Shire Council’s special projects officer Angela Shepherd said on Monday the concrete concourse around the pool is almost complete.
“The roof for the 50m pool plant room will be put on in the next couple of days, and once that’s done all the gear in the room will be hooked up,” Ms Shepherd said.
“There’s still some electrical and plumbing work to be done.”
The smaller multi function pool has water in it and is in the process of being conditioned.
Ms Shepherd said while there is no firm opening date set, the pool “will open as soon as it is ready” and a large official opening event will also be held.
