BodyPump is back at Youthie

Wednesday November 5, 2008

BodyPump will make its long awaited return to the Cobar Youth and Fitness Centre on Sunday afternoon with a free class.

Accredited Les Mills BodyPump instructor Amie Jacklin invites males and females of any age over 15, to go along to Sunday’s launch to participate in a free BodyPump class.

“People are also welcome to come along and just watch so they can see what BodyPump is all about,” Ms Jacklin said.

“BodyPump is a non-impact weights-based exercise class that works every major muscle group in the body using weights, a bar and step.”

BodyPump shapes and tones muscles, improves general fitness and wellbeing, increases bone density (which is important in avoiding osteoporosis) and burns up to 600 calories per class and produces amazing results—fast.

As an accredited instructor, Ms Jacklin will ensure participants carry out each exercise correctly and will also recommend suitable weights for each person’s level of ability and fitness.

Having trained for many years as a dancer, Ms Jacklin was first attracted to the music and movement of BodyPump.

“Then I got hooked on it,” she said.

“When I moved to Cobar and found there were no classes, I was disappointed.”

After speaking with a number of users of the youth centre, Ms Jacklin found that BodyPump had previously been taught in Cobar and proved to be very popular.

“So I decided I would get my accreditation to teach and now we’ll see how it goes.”

Apart from being a BodyPump trainer, Ms Jacklin also has a Group Leadership Certificate, a degree in Physical Education and Diploma in Health Science.

Ms Jacklin said anyone can do BodyPump and Sunday’s free class gives people the ideal opportunity to try it out.

“Wear joggers, comfortable clothing and bring along a water bottle,” Ms Jacklin said.

At Sunday’s launch, Ms Jacklin is keen to hear from people who would be interested in men’s only, ladies only and sports groups classes which she can tailor to suit individual needs.
