Golfie hosts visiting social bowlers from Broken Hill

Paul Henry (second from left) was one of a number of local bowlers who joined a large group of visitors from Broken Hill on the Golfie greens on Sunday.
The Golfie hosted visiting social bowlers from Broken Hill over the weekend.
Play was washed out on Saturday however on Sunday morning 10 mixed teams had a very fine social tournament.
Visitors A Crase, and ‘Tex’ teamed up with local Rod Leahy to win the day on +9 from runners-up P Arnold, B Warburton and Lance McBride on +6.
A hearty welcome was extended to the visitors who obviously managed some good matches.
The Golden Oldies game last Thursday had eight players enjoying pleasant conditions with Ken Harper and Rod Leahy the winners scoring +3.
They finished ahead of Max Humphries and Dick Roberts on +1.
Justin Bartlett was successful in winning the Club Champions Singles event on Sunday.
He defeated David Holt 31-23 despite a fast finishing burst by Holt.
Bartlett however had too good of a lead and went on to win.—Max
