The 2010/2011 swimming season got off to a slow start when the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool opened in chilly, wet conditions on Saturday morning.
New pool manager, Amie Jacklin, said while the first weekend of trading started off quiet, with just six people through the gate on Saturday, the warmer weather on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday helped to raise the gate numbers.
On Monday there were 178 through the gate and it was even busier on Tuesday with 202 people making use of the pool.
“They have mostly stayed in the multipurpose pool which is very warm at 29 degrees,” Ms Jacklin said.
“The big pool, at around 21 and 22 degrees, is still a bit too cool for most swimmers.”
In addition to swimming, Ms Jacklin hopes to offer pool goers this year extra activities including beach volleyball, aquaerobics and fitness classes as well as a water polo
competition.
