Dillon A Grade Champion Brien records a hole in one

Thursday October 7, 2010

It’s been a monumental week on the golf course with Craig Dillon securing the 2010 Men’s A Grade Championship title while Peter Brien hit a hole in one, his second in two and a half years.
The championships were played over the weekend with 45 holes contested instead of 54 due to rain on Saturday shortening the first round.
The championships were played in conjunction with the Brilliams Sponsored Copper City Classic Match.
The A Grade Champion for 2010 is Craig Dillon who finished with a score of 192 gross.
He was followed by Garry Hay (197).
The B Grade Champion is Troy Hartman (210) .
He was closely followed by Murray Robotham (212).
The C Grade title went to golf captain Ian Prendergast (239) with Andy Waugh (249) taking out the minor placing.
The Brilliams Copper City Classic was contested over two days also and was decided by nett scores over 45 holes.
To top off a good weekend, the overall winner was Dillon (174½) and Hartman (177½).
The winner on Saturday was Scott Mayne (67) followed by Brien Obray (70).
Sunday’s winner was Robotham (106½) followed by Phil Gilligan (109½).
A nearest the pins competition was run over the course of the weekend and the winners were hit by Dillon (2) Hay (2) Gilligan, Joe Palmer and Bian Smith.
Brien recorded his hole in one shot on the 15th hole on his way to a win, with golf partner, Bill Fugar, in the Four Ball Stableford Multiplier event on Monday.
Wednesday’s par event attracted nine starters with Scott Meadows having a good day by taking home first prize with a score of (+1).
He recorded the only two nearest the pins shots on the day.
Minor placings went to Dean Dunne (square) and Jacob Ryan (-1).
This coming weekend is the NSW Veterans Four Ball Sand Green Championships.
All golfers, including casual golfers, are reminded that the course is closed while this event is in progress.—contributed
