Outstanding scores to start a new year
Wednesday February 8, 2012
With the start of a new year five members turned up for the Cobar Amateur Pistol Club’s Rapid fire event last week.
The event was held over 25 metres with a couple of outstanding scores and two new handicaps being recorded.
Club Captain Steve Turton continued his good form into 2012, by winning the Wizard Trophy from Steve Colling.
Colling won the Off Pistol Award with a resounding score and a new handicap, from John Gally who also broke his handicap.
The highlight of the day was no doubt when Life Member Mervyn O’Brien competed even after he found out that he had left his glasses at home. He found out that sight is a wonderful gift, especially when trying to shoot at targets.
The full results were: Colling shot 378 and, with his handicap of 350, he finished with a total of 728 (and a new handicap of 200); Gally 322-350-672 (new handicap 251); Lloyd Mitchell 200-391-591; Turton 439-96-535 and O’Brien 145-177-312. —contributed
