The 2009 season for the Cobar Blues A Grade representative netball team in the Northern Riverina League competition got off to a brilliant start on Saturday with the Cobar side putting on an outstanding performance in the final quarter to win the match 50-43.
The Cobar side however did not start the match in the same confident manner.
Coach Gerard Francisco said he’d warned his players that they would be nervous and he was not fazed when the Cobar side was down seven goals in the first quarter.
“They stuck to the game plan, they didn’t panic and the tactics we deployed in the second half won us the game,” he said.
The players also credit their high level of fitness, which has been a pre-season focus for Coach Francisco, as a game winner.
Goal Shooter Lane Poland, who shot 41 of the team’s 50 goals, was outstanding along with Goal Defence Amie Jacklin (Coach’s Award) and Goal Keeper Vanessa Kurta, who was named Players’ Player.
