Huge response to business awards
Wednesday July 8, 2009
Cobar Business Association has received more than 120 nominations involving 57 local businesses for the 2009 Great Cobar Business Awards.
Association secretary Angela Shepherd said the response was fantastic.
“There has been a really good spread across all of the categories,” she said.
Locals will now be asked to vote for the winners of the Retail, Professional Services, Personal Services and Tourism and Hospitality categories.
Ms Shepherd said the community will be asked to vote on three aspects of the finalist businesses in the popular vote categories.
“We are looking for excellence in customer service, business presentation and value for money,” Ms Shepherd said.
A local panel of experts will help to judge the New Business, Manufacturing, Trades and Construction, Community Owned Organisations or Government Service and the Apprentice and Trainee awards, while the Western Catchment Management Authority will help to judge the Environmental Achievement award.
The award winners will be announced at a presentation night on August 28 at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club.
Winners of the local categories will be invited to compete in the Orana Regional Business Excellence Awards, to be held in October with the major awards night also held in Cobar.
