A large number of Cobar locals mixed it with champion bullriders at Ailsa Fitzsimmons Memorial Oval on Saturday for the Cobar Rugby Club’s Rodeo, held in conjunction with its Rugby 10s Tournament.
Plenty of locals lined up for the novice and charity events, including the novice bullride, Shetland pony rides, poddy calf rides, and charity donkey ride.
The Open Bull Ride, which attracted riders from across the state, was taken out by Ross Wicks (Bylong Valley) who scored 80 points ahead of Dubbo’s Jayden Lyle.
Fellow Dubbo rider Scott Poulson came third in the open bullride and also took out the novice category.
One of the most popular events of the night was the charity donkey ride, with Ray Smith winning the challenge and raising funds for St John Ambulance.
Fellow challengers Bruce Kennedy (Cobar Enterprise Facilitation), Josh ‘Diddles’ George (Brennan Centre) also managed to raise plenty of money for their respective charities.
