Brilliams Copper City Classic attracts big field

Brilliams Copper City Classic winners: Dillon Prince (overall winner), Murray Robotham (Sunday’s individual competition winner), Jarrod Marsden (overall runner-up) and Bayley Prendergast (Sunday’s individual competition runner-up).

For the third consecutive year, the Brilliams sponsored Copper City Classic men’s golf event was played over 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s event was won by ‘young gun’ Dillon Prince with a score of 127 net from a field of 29 players. He was followed by Jarrod Marsden (135) and Cliff Wyllie (135).

Separate prizes were also awarded to the winners of each day’s competition.

Saturday’s winner was Bob Baker (67) followed by John Collins (67) and Bruce Mitchell (68).

Sunday’s winner was Murray Robotham (62) with placings filled by Bayley Prendergast (67) and Bill Fugar (68).

Over the two day event, nearest the pins were recorded by Garry Wilkin (2), Prince (2), Colin Green, Troy Hartman, Mitchell, Max Phillips, Cliff Wyllie and Robotham.

The Four Ball Multiplier event on Monday attracted eight teams with the pairing of Craig Dillon and Ian Prendergast the winners with 80 points taking the chocolates.

They were followed by Michael Ryan and Garry Dunn (79) and Garry Wilkin and Tony Polack (74).

Nearest the pins were recorded by Ryan, Bill Douglas and Neville Fugar.

The stableford event played last Wednesday was won by Craig Dillon with a score of 38.

He was followed by Rob Fing (38) and Bob Baker (37).

This Saturday and Sunday Cobar will host the NSW Veteran Sand Green Championships.

The course will be closed to all golfers not eligible to participate in this event.—contributed
