Fun open day teaches fire safety
Wednesday May 9, 2012

Kids flocked to Fire and Rescue NSW Cobar Unit’s open day on Saturday where they had the chance to dress up as fire fighters, see the engines and watch the local fire fighters put out fires in controlled demonstrations. Engine keeper Adam Schulz (centre) was on hand to teach the children about fire safety and what to do in a fire. Mr Schulz also explained to the children being a fire fighter was not just about
putting out fires, but also performing an important role in the community, and
assisting with fire safety education by visiting schools, installing smoke alarms for the elderly and maintaining infrastructure needed in fighting fires.
