New committee for radio station

Wednesday June 9, 2010

The Cobar Community Radio Station held its annual general meeting recently with a new executive and station team elected.
Angela Webb will head up the committee as the new president while Peter ‘Flora’ Florance was elected to the position of Station Manager.
Ms Webb said she was very pleased with the turn out to the AGM and also with the commitment shown by those present in taking on executive and station team positions.
She said the they were currently working on fundraising, researching licence requirements, looking for a new venue to house the station and renewing memberships to broadcasting organisations.
“Our next meeting will include formulating a strategic plan, timeframes and a direction for the group to take,” Ms Webb said.
“At this stage it looks like Tourist Radio will be the first to be implemented and then followed by the Community Radio Station.
“Anyone who is interested in assisting with fundraising, broadcasting or just lending a hand is encouraged to keep their eye out for the next meeting or approach an existing member,” she said.
At the meeting Werner Muhlethaler was acknowledged for over 12 years of dedication to Cobar Community Radio Inc.
The new committee includes Jane Florance and Alix Schaefer (vice presidents), Mark Ingram (Secretary/Publicity Officer), Dylan Tomas (treasurer, assisted by Jane Florance), Gordon Hill, Chris Flavelle, Rebecca Ingram, Rohan Florance and Kaydan Howison (general committee members). Members of the station’s technical team are Chris Freeman, Matt Cohen, Amy de Voogd, Glenn Martin and Michael Bovey.
