All clear for golf
Wednesday June 9, 2010
Finally the skies cleared to allow for some golf to be played last week.
An excellent field of 34 contested the men’s stroke event on Saturday with Brad Gilligan taking out the day with a score of 66 net. He was followed by Brad Dunne (66) and Piers Brown (67). Nearest the pins were recorded by Garry Dunn, Garry Hay and Bill Bartlett.
Despite a contingent of golfers travelling to Brewarrina for their Open, 19 players turned out for a par event on Sunday at home.
Robbie Cummins, with a score of +2, was too good for the rest of the field. He was followed home by Scott Meadows (-1) and Angus Waugh (-1). Two nearest the pin shots were recorded by Geoff Dunne along with one by Bourke visitor P Wood.
The results from Brewarrina Open were not to hand at the time of writing this article.
This weekend there are Stableford events on both Saturday and Sunday. Monday’s game will be a 4-Ball Multiplier. The match play is now in progress. Players are reminded to check the notice board for the dates that each round is to be competed.—contributed
