Janet Place is once again A Grade champ

The 2009 Cobar lady golf champions have been decided after play of the competition’s final 27 holes on Sunday.
Janet Place is once again the A Grade champion after a wonderful scratch score of 236 for the 54 hole competition with Fay Hardwick the runner-up posting 263.
The A Grade net winner was Gloria Hay with 220½ net and Sally Bannister was the runner-up with 234 net.
The B Grade title was a tough affair with Pam Sikora clinching the title with a scratch score of 288 from Chrissy Grammer (291).
The B Grade net winner was Tess Lloyd (216 net) with Ann Dunn hot on her heels carding 217 net for the 54 holes as runner-up.
Yolanda Taylor held on to her lead from last Sunday to secure this year’s C Grade scratch title with 340 for the two days while Donna Prendergast was the runner-up.
Sue Phillips was the net winner for C Grade.
Last Wednesday’s stableford event was won by Ann Dunn on a count back from Janet Place. Both came in with 39 points.
They were followed by Angela Fryer (36) with Rachael Kennedy next on a count back from Pam Sikora who finished with 34 points each.
Nearest the pins went to Sikora on the third hole and Janet Place on the 15th.
Saturday’s Monthly Medal went to Barb Barklimore with a 69 net score.
In second place was Narelle Green.
Susan Wyllie, Angela Fryer and Ann Dunn had to fight it out on count backs for the next placings as all carded 78 net scores.
Dunn was the ‘putting queen’ for the day recording 24 putts.
An 18 hole ball competition was held in conjunction with the last round of the championships on Sunday with Yolanda Taylor the
winner with 66 net.
Tess Lloyd was next (70 net) followed by Pam Sikora (71 net), Narelle Green (72 net), Gloria Hay (73 net) Ann Dunn (74 net) Donna Prendergast and Janet Place who both had 75 net on the day.
Nearest the pins were awarded to Vi McLaughlin in A Grade, Brenda Fugar (who incidentally took the prize from her mum) in B Grade and Donna Prendergast in C Grade.
Today players will get another shot at the Monthly Medal while Saturday is Veteran’s Day (with a 10am start) as well as a stableford game for non vets (starting time as normal).
Sunday will be a par game as well the Warren ladies are holding their Open.—Td Off
