Wednesday December 9, 2009

Local cricket
In-form Nymagee batsman Phil Harley, with 50 runs, was the top scorer in their day/night match win against Golf Club on Saturday at Ward Oval.

After making a reasonable start in their day/night match against Nymagee on Saturday at Ward Oval, Golf Club were not able to maintain the pressure and Nymagee’s strong batting line-up led the team to a comfortable 170 runs win.

Golf Club claimed two early wickets and then narrowly missed the wicket of Phil Harley (when he was on zero) with Harley going on to top score with 50.

Nymagee captain Jade Buckman won the toss and elected to bat first.

The side compiled a total of 232 runs from 45.2 overs.

Along with Harley, other Nymagee batsmen to make double figures were Doug North (32), Roger Mitchell (31), Craig Dillon (24) and Chris Gilbert (23 not out).

John Hausia with 4/43, Rohan Lloyd 2/37 and Kyle Roberts, with a good spell of spin bowling with 2/43 from nine overs, were the leading wicket takers for Golf Club.

After the tea break Golf Club was dismissed for 62 with Hausia top scoring on 30 and Roberts remained not out on 10.

The main wicket takers for Nymagee were Dillon with 3/8, Harley 2/12 from eight overs and North 2/24.—contributed
