Wednesday March 10, 2010
Cobar’s rain gauges have had a good start to the month, filling up with more than 15mm of rain last week.
Rain clouds rolled in from Wednesday afternoon with 2.6mm recorded overnight to 9am last Thursday morning.
Downpours throughout the day on Thursday resulted in another 13.2mm of rainfall, while a further 2.2mm was recorded to 9am Saturday morning.
Last week’s downpours mean that Cobar has already recorded around half its monthly average rainfall for March, while January and February were both above average.
Cobar actually recorded some of the lowest rainfall figures across the region last week, with centres like Enngonia, Tilpa, Wilcannia and White Cliffs all recording more than 60mm of rainfall for the week.
The rainfall seemed to keep temperatures down in Cobar last week, with the warmest day recorded on Saturday of 30.5 degrees, just 0.4 degrees above the average for March.
Thursday was the coolest day of the week, reaching a top of 22.5 degrees.
This week fine and mostly sunny conditions are expected, with mild temperatures.
A top of 26 degrees is expected for both today and tomorrow, while the temperature will range from 16 degrees to 27 degrees on Friday.
Saturday is forecast to reach 26 degrees, and Sunday is predicted to range from 16 degrees to a top of 27 degrees.
