A new photographic exhibition depicting Cobar life through the eyes of Lilliane Brady Village (LBV) residents has gone on display at Cobar Shire Council offices.
The exhibition is part of Cobar’s upcoming Seniors Week activities, which officially kick off from next Sunday.
A number of Lilliane Brady Village residents took part in a digital photography workshop late last year with Mark Ingram of MI Photography.
“We took a wide variety of shots including portraits and still photography, and they learned a lot of creative techniques,” Mr Ingram said.
The residents and staff were then loaned digital cameras by MI Photography to capture their own shots of daily life.
As well as pictures around the village, the residents took their cameras on some of their regular trips to the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool for a new subject matter.
LBV staff member Nickie Lloyd said residents had a “fabulous” time learning about photography and taking their own pictures.
“They really enjoyed the experience.”
The residents were able to view their
handiwork with the photos printed out and displayed at the village for the past few weeks.
The exhibition will remain at the council offices until the end of Senior’s Week.
A huge range of activities has been planned for Senior’s Week, including morning tea and bowls at the village, a special
screening at Cobar Entertainment Centre, an official dinner at Cobar Bowling and Golf Club, bingo and morning tea at Cobar
Memorial Services Club, an open day at Great Cobar Heritage Centre and a barbecue in Drummond Park.
A bus trip is also planned for the annual senior’s concert in Nyngan.
