Western Studio dancers bring a touch of Disney to Cobar
Wednesday December 10, 2008

Western Studio of Performing Arts ‘Mousketeers’ 8-10 years dance group lit up the stage with their performance of Mickey Mouse March at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club on Thursday night for the group’s end of year ‘Disney on Parade’ concert.
Once again the Western Studio of
Performing Arts (WSOPA) dancers showed just how talented and versatile
they are with three outstanding dance
performances of Disney on Parade presented at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club last week.
The Club’s new function auditorium was put to the test and came out with flying colours with the stage accommodating 95 performers and seating capacity crowds for the three shows.
The two hours and 45 minutes programme featured 46 acts which were based around
a number of Disney movie favourites
including 101 Dalmatians, Hercules, The
Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland and The Little Mermaid.
There were also appearances by the Mickey Mouse Club and the Mouseketeers, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck.
WSOPA dancers showed off their varied skills in hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet and modern dance styles with a number of dancers performing in numerous acts.
The show had a very professional feel about it as it ran smoothly thanks to a lot of hard work by parents back stage, sound controlled by Chris Freeman and lighting and special effects by Tom Shanahan (which also included a live video feed back to TVs back stage so performers could watch).
WSOPA principal Angie White, who produced and coordinated the show, praised her performers, dance teacher Courtney McAuley, all the helpers and the audience for their support of the show.
“The community spirit in Cobar is something very special and something that you all should be very proud of,” Mrs White said after the final performance on Thursday.
