Two injured in single car rollover near Emmdale
Wednesday August 12, 2009
A 76 year old woman is suspected to have spinal injuries and a 66 year old man is
in a serious but stable condition after a single vehicle accident west of Cobar last week.
Cobar Police Senior Constable Sue Huggins said fatigue is being investigated as a factor
in the accident, which occurred 1km east
of Emmdale on the Barrier Highway last
Friday.
The accident occurred at around 12.30pm when the vehicle, driven by the 66 year old man, crossed to the incorrect side of the road and hit a culvert, causing the vehicle to spin around and hit a tree, sustaining substantial damage.
A passing motorist stopped a short time later to render assistance, and was helped by two nurses who were also passing by.
Police from Wilcannia and Cobar, as well as State Emergency Service and Rural Fire Service personnel attended the accident.
The driver and passenger, both from Mannering Park near Newcastle, were flown by the Royal Flying Doctor Service to Adelaide for medical treatment.
