The NSW Men’s Veterans Sand Green Championships was held over 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday with over 80 players taking part.

Visiting golfers dominated the prize list.

The winner of the main event, that being the 36 hole stroke event, was Graeme Snodgrass followed by Greg Hobbs and John McCumstie.

The 36 hole stableford event was taken out by John Dixon, with Geoff Rorke and Barry Dowsett filling the minor places.

Saturday’s 18 hole stableford event went to Max Phillips followed by Bruce Mitchell and Richard Bright. Sunday’s 18 hole event was won by John Collins from Mick Bannister and ‘Doc’ Wilson.

Over the weekend nearest the pins were recorded by John Dixon (2), Greg Hobbs, Warren Breitauger, Bruce Soulsby, Geoff Smith, Keith Conroy and John McCumstie.

In other men’s golf news, 11 players turned out for a par event on Wednesday with Bian Smith (+7) victorious on the day.

He was followed home by Daryn Lord (+3) and Robert Fing (+3).

Nearest the pins went to Fing and Craig Dillon. This Saturday is CCI day sponsored by Copper City Investments and is a stroke event.

Sunday’s game is a stableford event.

Also on Sunday is the Warren Open. Golfers are advised private transport arrangements will have to be made for this event.—contributed
