Greg Martin, a Cobar entrant in this year’s Kidney Kar Rally, a rally that raises funds for the Kidney Foundation, is all set and ready to roll in the Launceston to
Muswellbrook rally next month.
Mr Martin is the co-driver and chief mechanic in the 1963 Holden EJ Premier ‘Aussie Pride KAR 009’ entry.
This is Mr Martin’s third year in the rally and the EJ is a “new” car for this year’s event.
“The motor’s just been re-built and the car’s had a repaint,” he said.
And while the EJ doesn’t have safety air bags, it has been fitted with a number of rally car necessities including a roll cage, a terratrip (as the speedometer is in miles), racing seats, harness seatbelts, safety beacon lights and a speaker for special effects car horns.
Mr Martin is hoping to gain local sponsors for the rally.
