The Cobar High School (CHS) U/15 boys and girls teams recently took on Gilgandra High School in the third round of the NSW U/15 Combined High Schools basketball competition at CHS multi-purpose hall.
The girls’ match was played first and was a very tight game, with the lead changing between the two sides several times.
Gilgandra was able to pull away in the final quarter of the match to eventually win the game 28-20.
Top point scorers for Cobar were Hannah Young (7 points), and Nicola Harbison with four.
The boys’ match saw a reverse in the results with Cobar running out convincing winners with a score of 50-19.
After a slow start the Cobar side ran away and never looked like being beaten.
The highlight of the match was Cobar’s transition play, which enabled them to capitalise on numerous fast break opportunities.
Both Wade Potter and Dylan Prince were equal top point scorers, with both players recording 20 points for the match.
Cobar High competed against South Dubbo in the semi final of the competition in Dubbo yesterday. South Dubbo defeated Cobar 56-13.—contributed
