The U/9s mini Roosters proved to be a comparable force against their more experienced Wellington side in their curtain-raiser exhibition match.
Down by a couple of tries, the Roosters took the lead in the second quarter with tries scored by Coopa Martin (2), Padraic Island (1) and Drea Dowling (1).
With good team work, strong defence and increasing confidence, the mini Roosters played their best game of the season.
All put in sound performances with the best on ground impossible to pick.
With a range of ages and experiences in the side, the team benefits greatly from its more senior players Padraic, Drea, Coopa and Jackson Goonrey.—contributed
