Alterations made to main street
Wednesday June 17, 2010
Contractors are hoping to be finished with the main street works by the end of this month, pending the supply of pavers.
Cobar Shire Council’s director of engineering services Stephen Taylor gave a brief verbal report on the progress of the project to last week’s council works committee meeting.
Mr Taylor said the completion of paving works depends on the supply of the charcoal pavers, which are currently in short supply.
A number of alterations have also been made to existing areas, with the drainage system currently being replaced near the Commonwealth Bank.
Mr Taylor explained the drainage system which had been put in place on that side of the road by the former main street contractor was not in accordance with the original plans, and did not match the other side of the street.
“The contractor originally advised us he was unable to obtain it,” Mr Taylor reported.
It was also reported to last Thursday’s meeting that slight alterations would need to be made to the area between St Vincent de Paul and Brush Stop to improve water drainage.
