Bowlers welcome new players to greens

Wednesday June 17, 2010

The Services Club Lady Bowlers hosted a ‘fun day’ last Tuesday, in the hope of introducing new players to the game.
The winners of the day were Marlene Wynd, who shared her position with her daughter Karlene and teamed up with Marge Dowling and Ellen Tupper who played double lead.
The day’s runners-up were Kaye Saddler, with new bowler Natalie Pagett and Ellen Tupper.
Karlene Wynd and Ellen Tupper won the spider prizes, while Natalie Pagett and Joy Josephson both picked up ditcher prizes.
In the Golden Oldies game played on Wednesday at the club, Paddy Phillips, Dick Roberts and Ken Harper were the winners from Ron Hanns, Joe Chandler and Reg Whitla.
There was a big roll up of 16 players on the green for Saturday’s Jackpot Bowls.
The winners of the day were Paddy Phillips and an unnamed visitor, while Marion Williams and Neil Rice (visitor) were the runners-up. The Jackpot did not go off.—Wrong Bias
