Events flow smoothly at CPS carnival

Wednesday February 18, 2009

Swimmers at CPS carnival
Junior girls Bati Mukwindidza, Erica Noble, Reanna Noble, Shontel Hillier and Tamira Mitchell at the Cobar Primary School swimming carnival on Wednesday.

The cold change last week was pleasing to see as the 40 degree temperature would have led to a reduced attendance at the Cobar Public School’s swimming carnival on Wednesday.

The events on Wednesday flowed smoothly and quickly with a lot of cheering to encourage swimmers.

The house competition was fierce and the end result had to be decided by the Salamander race.

Chesney finished first ahead of Occidental, Fort Bourke and Great Cobar.

Attila Szekely broke a long-standing record, held since 1984, in the 10 Years Boys’ division 50 metres Freestyle with a time of 38.90.

The carnival Age Champions were: Junior Boy Attila Szekely; Junior Girl Tayla Pennell; 11 Years Boy Claude Beitz; 11 Years Girl Marnie Whytcross; Senior Boy Jayke Martin and Senior Girl Gizella Szekely.—contributed
