Cobar High School hosted its annual school swimming carnival last Thursday with the standard of swimming very high with the greatest number of records broken in any single year.

Dylan Prince’s record breaking performance in the 14 Years Boys’ division was outstanding.

He set five new records including the 50 metres Freestyle 27.86 (old record 28.62), 50m Backstroke 32.92 (36.27), 50m Butterfly 30.36 (37.97), 50m Breaststroke 41.24 (42.34) and 100m Freestyle 1min.07.67sec (1.13.74) events.

Georgia Baker claimed four new records in the 12 Years Girls division in 50m Freestyle, 33.65 (35.6); 50m Backstroke 37.17 (44.54), 50m Butterfly 36.14 (40.90) and her 100m Freestyle 1min.16.30sec (1.27.55) events.

Wade Potter broke three records in the 15 Years Boys’ Division in the 50m Backstroke 35.92 (39.44), 50m Butterfly 37.05 (40.01), and 100m Freestyle 1min.05.96sec (1.12.82) events.

Rohan Lloyd posted two new records in the 17+ Boys’ Division in the 50m Butterfly 32.15 (34.41) and 100m Freestyle 1min 08.78sec (1.10.56) events.

Ben Turton won the 17+ Boys’ Division 50m Freestyle event with the new time of 28.90 (29.14).

Charlotte Young claimed a new record in the 13 Year Girls’ 50m Freestyle 33.18 (33.55).

Jaimee Cohen completed her 17+ Girls 100m Freestyle event with a record breaking time of 1min 19.08sec (1.19.48).

The carnival’s age champions were: 12 Years—Dylan Littlehales and Georgia Baker; 13 Years—Jacob Ryan and Charlotte Young; 14 Years— Dylan Prince and Sam Lloyd; 15 Years—Wade Potter and Hannah Young; 16 Years Jesci Clark and 17+ Years—Rohan Lloyd and Jaimee Cohen.

Fort Bourke was the champion house finishing with 363 points.

Great Cobar was second with 338 points followed by Chesney (333) and Occidental (302).—contributed
