Mystery trip for seniors
Wednesday March 18, 2009

Cobar seniors are being treated to a special week of their own this week as part of national Seniors Week celebrations. Yesterday a group of local seniors took the plunge and boarded a mystery bus tour. The bus travelled to Mt Drysdale historical site, giving seniors the opportunity to view old mine workings and the remains of a once-bustling village. Seniors Week activities coordinator John Martin said it was pleasing to see so many locals taking advantage of the free tour. “It gives them a chance to see a part of Cobar they might not normally get to,” Mr Martin said. The Seniors Week activities kicked off on Sunday with a combined church service at St Lawrence O’Toole’s church, while on Monday Lilliane Brady Village residents got in on the action with a bowls tournament and morning tea. More activities are planned for later this week including a concert and official dinner.
