Tough contests in junior soccer comp

Tough contests continued to be the order of the day in the Mids junior soccer competition at Ward Oval on Saturday morning.
Rangers defeated United 1-0 while in the other match Wanderers and Spurs battled it out for a 3-all draw.
Rangers’ game winning goal was scored by Jacob Christie.
Spurs goal kickers were Henry Brookman, Tylar Greenaway and Wyatt Proudlove (1 each) while Wanderers’ goals were netted by John Paul Best (2) and Braith Good (1).
In the Minis competition, Rovers were too good for Mariners winning 4-1.
Rovers’ goals were scored by Marley Jones (2), Kadin Baker (1) and Reilly Porter (1) while Eli Hausia scored Mariners’ goal.
In the later games, United defeated Rangers 9-5 and Wanderers were too good for Spurs, winning 12-7.
Goals for United were kicked by Guilherme De Figueiredo (6), Chad Buckman (2) and Georgie Buckman (1) while for Rangers goals were shared by Samuel Piper (4) and Kaden Bradley (1).
Spurs’ goal kickers were Ben Griffiths, who had a great day with the boot to net six goals and Rickie Whyman (1).
Wanderers’ goal scorers were Jack Fazulla (5), Jed O’Neill (6) and Harrison Sharpe (1).
In the Seniors competition Spurs defeated a severely undermanned Rangers team 4-0.
Goals for Spurs were netted by Braydon Pennell (3) and Kody Martin (1).
In the Under 18s competition, United proved far too good for Spurs easily winning 8-2.
Goals for United were scored by Jade Buckman (3), Shane Place (3) and Luke Hillier (2).
The goal scorers for Spurs were Rhys Smith and Attila Szekely.—contributed
