Good roll up of 21 teams at charity day golf event

A field of 21 teams of three golfers faced the starter’s gun on Saturday to contest the three person Ambrose charity golf day sponsored by Polyfabrications and FB Linings.

The overall winners were John Potter, Bill Fugar and Todd Fugar with a score of 55 net.

The winning ladies team was Narelle Green, Robynne Morton and Youlanda Taylor with 63 5/6.

The Mixed team winners were Sue and Cliff Wyllie and Ernie Potter (55 5/6).

In fourth place was the team of Bruce Mitchell, Alan Sharpe and Piers Brown.

Fifth place went to the team of Geoff and Sue-Ellen Dunne and Peter Lawrence.

Phil Gilligan, Chrissy Grammer and Steve Manns finished in sixth place with Jim Goonrey, Craig McNaughton and Geoff Rorke in seventh place.

In eighth place was the team of Max and Sue Phillips who teamed up with Heather Forster.

Nearest the pins were recorded by Max Phillips (3rd hole), Gary Hay (7th), Bruce Mitchell (8th), Bill Fugar (11th) and Fay Hardwick (15th).

A stableford event was contested by 15 players on Sunday with young Alec Burton the eventual winner with 48 points.

He was followed home by Peter Brien (42) and Peter Lloyd (38).

Nearest the pins were hit by Murray Robotham, Bill Fugar and Bian Smith.

This Saturday’s round will be a mixed American event sponsored by Red Earth Real Estate.

Sunday is closing day and a stroke event will be played.

All golfers are reminded the Golfie’s Sportman’s Presentation Night will be held at the club on Saturday night.

Players intending to attend the evening are requested to put their names on the golfers’ board at the club.—contributed
