Shooters from around Australia compete at local event

Competitors in Sunday morning’s Double Rise events Garry Jones (Cobar), Geoff Betts (Orange), Darren Cutting (Karratha, WA) and Joe Marshall (Tamworth).


While it’s not the club’s major shooting event of the year, the Cobar Clay Target Club’s Double Rise event over the weekend still managed to attract a strong field of 42 shooters from all around Australia for the two day competition.
Cobar shooters featured in many events however it was visitor Craig Fitzgerald from Echuca who claimed the major prize of the event as the Overall High Gun winner.
Other High Gun winners were: AA Grade Arthur Turner, A Grade James Manns, B Grade Hank Pritchard and C Grade Samantha Hunt.
In the 50 pair Double Rise Kidman Way Championships Rob Thomson finished first overall with a score of 106 out of 110.
Matt Patmore was first in AA Grade with 104/110 and other grade winners were: A Grade James Manns (105/110), B Grade John Vale (85/100), and C Grade Samantha Hunt (75/100).
In the 25 Pair Graded Meterage Double Rise event Fitzgerald won the AA Grade class with a score of 49/50; James Manns and Darran Wells (both with 44/50) tied for first place in A Grade; Hank Pritchard shot 42/50 to win B Grade and Dave Doyle won C Grade with a score of 36/50.
In the 25 Pair Cash Divide event Patmore was the AA Grade winner shooting 48 targets out of a possible 50.
Other winners were: A Grade—James Manns, B Grade—Pritchard and C Grade—Hunt.
Arthur Turner shot 98 out of 100 to be the overall winner of the 50 pair Copper City Double Rise Championship.
Rob Anderson won AA Grade with 107/110, Tony Polack was first in A Grade with 89/100 Samuel Barnes won B Grade with 85/100 and Doyle was the C Grade winner with 77/100.
The 50 Pair Double Rise Empire Hotel Championship overall winner was Fitzgerald (99/100) with Glen Castellaro first in AA Grade (98/100), James Manns won A Grade (92/100), Hank Pritchard was first in B Grade (83/100) and Doyle took out C Grade (73/100).—contributed
