Cobar High School’s captains have joined school leaders from across NSW in state parliament recently.
Cobar’s Naomi Whitehurst and Ray Ebsworth attended the ‘Leadership Program for Secondary School Students’ in Sydney as part of the Bourke group of schools.
Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries said Barwon students were well represented, with 14 schools from the electorate taking part in the ‘Leadership Program for Secondary School Students’.
Mr Humphries said he was proud that Barwon was the stand-out leader, holding the majority of schools represented in the Western Sydney and New England Region of the program.
“Given the amount of students here, it must be one of the largest Barwon representations in State Parliament ever,” Mr Humphries said.
“These students are our future leaders and it is great that they have had this opportunity to meet with Members of Parliament and be exposed to Parliamentary procedures.
“I am proud of the students and their achievements, and would be delighted to see any of them walk these corridors as future Members of Parliament,” Mr Humphries concluded.
Cobar High School Year 12 year advisor Justine Hinchey accompanied the students on the program, and said the students heard from a number of speakers as part of the program.
“They went on a tour of Government House and NSW Governor Marie Bashir spoke with them about her role,” Ms Hinchey said.
“They also had the chance to experience city life, such as travelling by underground rail,” she said.
